Sown in March 2017 in a heated propagator under a grow light, then planted in the front flower borders during May. Producing flowers for me until October.
I have been collecting and drying out the seed heads throughout the year. To be sowed in 2018 (and to give to friends and family). Although, The new plants may not look like their parent. I enjoyed growing them as a cut flower and found they lasted for well over a week in a vase.
The African Marigolds looked beautiful in the flower border. I accidentally planted them near the orange French Marigolds and I liked way they looked together. Next year I aim to do the same thing albeit more intentional this year.
The roses came from a rose propagated from a cutting last summer. The cutting grew to about 1m tall. It has produced lovely flowers this year. I plan to cut it back soon to help it to bush out a little more this year.
The roses did not last in the vase as long as the African Marigolds. The Dahlia flower came from a cutting from a Dahlia bought in 2017. We dug the Dahlia tuber up after it blackened in 2017 and dividing the roots up in the greenhouse early in 2018.
