On 8th July 2017 we took possession of some Lavatera cuttings from my sister-in-law and brother-in-law.
When we took the cuttings the Lavatera was hosting a beautiful display of pink flowers and was probably standing about six feet tall.
By 20th July 2017 two of the cuttings were starting to develop long roots.
A third one started to swell at the base and show signs of roots on 26th July 2017.
A few weeks later they were transplanted into pots and placed in the greenhouse with a clear lid placed on the top so they could slowly acclimatise outside of the aeroponic propagator. After a couple of days the vents were left open on the top and a couple of days after that the lid was removed.
At two months one looks like this and is waiting for me to find it a new home in our garden. Hopefully flowering next year.
Difficulty Level – seems to be very easy and it could probably have been easily achieved without the aeroponic propagator.
ROI – I have seen a pack of 12 plugs retailing for about £16.00 so roughly about £1.33 per plant. Not a high net worth plant to look at growing to get the return of my investment but that being said it has been easy and enjoyable to grow. Hopefully I can add some pictures next year if and when it comes into flower.
